Guangzhou College of South China University of Technology (GCU) was ranked 235th in China and 19th in Guangdong among all the applied university by GDI Applied University Ranking 2020.

GDI (Guangzhou Daily Data& Digital Institute) Applied University Ranking uniquely evaluated 910 undergraduate colleges and universities, including public colleges, independent colleges and private colleges, under the same system. A new evaluation system for applied universities was created according to the comprehensive index which was obtained through the scientific evaluation of the application index, academic index, reputation index and secondary evaluation index of various universities. It is worth mentioning that, we were ranked 5th in the top 100 applied universities (independent colleges) in China. Both the application index and academic index were ranked 4th ,which marks a new leap of our academic level.

In the past 15 years, GCU is always aiming at building an application-oriented university with distinctive characteristics and first-class quality. We remain dedicated to cultivating applied, compound, innovative and entrepreneurial talents and determined to be a provincial first-class and national well-known application-oriented university. We cultivated talents cooperatively with famous enterprises(such as GAC Engineering, Dongfeng-Nissan, Lanyou Technology and China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co.,Ltd etc. ) through high-level Industry-University-Research platform. We were honored to be Intellectual Property Rights Pilot School of Guangzhou in 2017 and one of the first Guangdong Demonstration Industry Colleges in 2019. Over the past 5 years, we have applied for 757 patents and obtained 443 authorized patents, which makes us list 1st in number of application patents as well as authorized patents among all the private undergraduate colleges in Guangdong.
