GCU Has Signed A Memorandum of Cooperation with Lebanon American University of Science & Technology

On October 9th, Zeng Zhixin, executive vice principal of GCU, Li Huaigang, vice principal of GCU and Lin Ying,vice principal of GCU visited Lebanese American University of Science & Technology (hereinafter referred to as AUST), and signed the memorandum of cooperation with AUST. Mrs.Hiam Sakr, principal of AUST, Dr.Riad Sakr, vice principal of AUST, Dr. Nabeel Haidar, academic dean, Dr.Ziad Abu-Faraj, doctor and president of scientific research institute, and Dr.Robert Gharios, doctor and president of the school of business and economics received the delegation warmly.

At the meeting, Mrs.Hiam Sakr extended a warm welcome to the delegation. She said the AUST is a dynamic university based on the social and economic development needs of Lebanon, which focuses on cultivate applied talents and enhance the employment competitiveness of graduates. “We are very glad to see the educational cooperation between the two schools and to promote exchanges between teachers and students of the two schools and educational cooperation between the two countries.”

Dr.Robert Gharios said that he visited our school as the leader of IACBE’s field investigation expert group in May 2018. He was deeply impressed by GCU’s application-oriented school-running concepts, business specialty construction results, complete economy and management experimental center, library and beautiful campus. He also said that the cooperation between the two schools will build a good exchange platform between teachers and students of the two schools.

Zeng zhixin thanked the AUST for the warm reception and introduced the basic situation of GCU. He said that Guangzhou and Beirut have similar economic and trade histories and deep business atmosphere. Under the “The Belt and Road” initiative, the economic and trade exchanges between China and Lebanon are increasingly closer. GCU and AUST share similar educational ideas in aspects of cultivating applied talents, student competitions and practical training. It is worth expecting the cooperation of communication between teachers and students of the two schools. He also thanked Dr.Robert Gharios. During the business certification period of GCU, Dr.Robert Gharios gave guidance on the professional certification and teaching quality of our school, and provided support for the subsequent exchanges and cooperation between the two schools.

Afterwards, the two sides conducted deep discussions on the communication mode and specific projects between students and teachers, including the exchange of students majoring in business or computer engineering in one semester or one academic year, short-term exchange visits of teachers, etc. Furthermore , the two sides also discussed robot engineering, engineering international certification, scientific cooperation and other aspects.
On the afternoon of 9th, the leaders of the office of the university, school of management, school of economics and international business school held a meeting with the leaders of the relevant departments of the AUST. The two sides had a deep discussion on business major and curriculum, embedded CFA and other vocational qualification courses, academic competition, teaching evaluation and other aspects.
On October 10th, the two schools signed a Memorandum of Cooperation at the IACBE Asia-Europe meeting. The two schools will cooperate in aspects of student exchange, teacher exchange, international engineering certification and scientific research.
It is known that AUST was founded in 1989 and located in Beirut, Lebanon, which is a student-oriented university that cultivates application-oriented talents. The university pays high attention to cultivating students’ critical thinking, teamwork and practical abilities through cooperation with enterprises and universities in terms of internships, practical training, academic competitions and other links. The school’s business administration major received IACBE international business certification and its computer and communication engineering major received ABET international engineering certification in 2011. Its teaching quality has been recognized by Lebanon and the world.
