October 2019 – Announced by the Board of Commissioners of the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE), Guangzhou College of South China University of Technology (GCU) in Guangzhou, China has been granted first-time accreditation of the business programs and Guangzhou College of SCUT is the first university in China with IACBE accredited programs.

About the IACBE – The International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) was founded in 1997 and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The IACBE is a leading mission-driven and outcomes-based programmatic accreditation organization in business and management education for student-centered colleges, universities, and other higher education institutions throughout the world. The IACBE has hundreds of member institutions and campuses worldwide, and has accredited over 1,500 business and business-related programs in the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Central America, and South America.
In addition, Guangzhou College of SCUT has demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement, excellence in business education, and advancing academic quality in its business programs and operations.
About GCU’s IACBE application process – The application for the IACBE accreditation mainly goes through three stages: educational member, candidacy and accredited member. GCU has been educational member of the IACBE since November 2013 and is the first member institution of the IACBE in China. From 2015-2016, GCU completed the Outcomes Assessment Plan and candidacy site-visit was accomplished in September 2016. 4 business programs (International Economics & Trade, Business Management, Accounting, Marketing) have successfully been granted candidacy status in December 2016.
Application for first-time accreditation started in 2017 in which the compilation of Self-study and supporting materials last from April to November. The three-day accreditation site-visit was conducted in May 2018 in which the site-visit team reviewed the documents and met with the administration, schools and departments. In July 2018, GCU has been successfully granted first-time accreditation of the 4 business and management programs.
In May 2019, 3 programs in School of Management (Human Resource Management, Financial Management, E-commerce) have also received first-time accreditation. In August, the business programs of International Business School – International Economics & Trade (Bilingual Program & International Program), Accounting (Bilingual Program & International Program) are also granted accreditation.
About Vice-President for the IACBE Asian Regional Assembly – Prof. Zhixin Zeng, Executive Vice President of GCU has been appointed as the Vice-President for the IACBE Asian Regional Assembly in April 2019. GCU aims to work with the IACBE to achieve IACBE’s and the Regional Assembly’s goals.
