On January 14th, the 2020 annual work summary meeting and working training for foreign experts wereheld online by the Working Committee of Foreign Experts on Culture and Education in Higher Education of Guangdong Association of Higher Education.Units and individuals who achieved outstanding results in foreign exchanges were awarded at the meeting. Guangzhou College of South China University of Technology (GCU) was awarded as“Exemplary University of Foreign Exchanges and Cooperation of Guangdong Province in the years 2019 and 2020”. GCU is one of the sixteen universities that are awarded in Guangdong province, while it is also one of the two private universities winning the honor.
At the meeting, the Working Committee gave recognition to GCU’s achievements in internationalization of school running in 2019 drawing on passing related accreditation as well as the innovative way of school running with online courses as one kind in 2020.
GCU catches up with the education opening-up of China and Guangdong province all the time. Centering on the principle of application-oriented talents cultivation, GCU endeavors to establish platforms, strengthencooperation, improvequality and efficiency, integrate its characteristics, dig out feature and build its own brand. Meanwhile, GCU innovates its ways of foreign exchanges and cooperationin line with three developmentpaths including international exchanges, international cooperation and international accreditation. In this way, its internationalization of school running.
Lin Ying, vice-president of GCU, who is in charge of foreign affairs,claimed that it was the first time that GCU won a prize on foreign exchanges and cooperation, which demonstrates the recognition of its achievements in the internationalization of higher education by related departments and institutions including the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and Guangdong Association of Higher Education.It also highlighted GCU’s leading role in the internationalization of school running compared with similar colleges and universities.
The meeting was organized by the Working Committee ofForeignExperts on Culture and Education in Higher Education of Guangdong Association of Higher Education. It is said thatover 100 participants attended the meeting, mainly from related governing units of Guangdong province. Li Jinjun, director of Exchange and Cooperation Office of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, and Yang Huifang, director of the Office of Expert Services of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province attended the meeting and delivered keynote speeches respectively. Moreover, Xia Hongwei, director of the Office of International Relations of Peking University, director-general of Introducing Foreign Intelligence Working Branch of China Association of Higher Education was invited to share the experience of international exchanges and cooperation of Peking University.
