Guangzhou City University of Technology (GCUT) held the 2025 graduation ceremony in its Student Activity Center on June 21. Around 6,000 graduates got their bachelor’s degree, who will strive for their next journey after graduating from GCUT. 

Participants witnessed such significant moment, such as GCUT’s leadership, Du Xiaoming, Su Cheng, Zhou Shiyao, Liu Jianbo, Shang Qichao and Wei Demin, as well as deans and secretaries from GCUT’s schools, personnel in charge of GCUT’s administrative offices, representatives of teachers and counselors, parts of parents of graduates from the Class of 2025. Vice President Zhou Shiyao presided over the ceremony.

Four years of your college life in GCUT just passed like a blink of an eye. You are witnesses of the strategic plans made at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, who also share the remarkable achievements of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Moreover, you are part of the global development of artificial intelligent such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek, from which you can feel that China’s self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

Being the first class of graduates since GCUT is transformed and renamed, you are not only witnesses of GCUT’s development, but participants and promoters of its growth. You accumulate knowledge from your courses as well as from extracurricular activities, make breakthroughs in innovative practices, and present the beauty of youth. You have written your own paper of youth with wisdom and efforts.

You are about to leave the campus and explore the world to accomplish yourselves. Upon your graduation, I would like to share three expectations with you.

Firstly, shaping your future keeping abreast of the trend of the times. As science and technology such as artificial intelligence is reshaping the world, it is at a critical juncture where opportunities and challenges coexist, which also provides everyone a chance to take a part in it. I hope that you can catch up with the development of the times while keeping an eye on such trend to write your own chapter in your life with wisdom and effortsin line with the trend of the times.

Secondly, pursuing lofty ideals with sustained actions. A meaningful life starts with clear goals and sustained actions. You may achieve a deep understanding that there exists a huge gap between those upholding clear goals with sustained actions and those without orientations and just treading water in the past four years. I hope you can carefully plan for your goal and forge ahead toward it in the future no matter your work concerning the rural revitalization, endeavoring to achieve breakthroughs in science and technology, improving the well-being of the people or other fields. In this way, you can create your wonderful life.

Thirdly, never cease to learn so as to pursue lifelong growth. Graduation is not the finish line of your learning, but a new beginning of lifelong learning. The future competition is actually a competition among comprehensive strength. Please always uphold an open and inclusive attitude and remain passions for lifelong learning, thus embracing unlimited possibilities with outstanding time management skills, strong stress tolerance, and inclusiveness to keep improving yourselves in the trend of AI revolution.

 “Forging ahead like a gigantic ship breaking through strong winds and heavy waves, I’ ll set my towering sail to cross the sea which raves.” I hope you can maintain the integrity of “my love is crystal clear, it is only for China”.
