On December 16, Guangzhou City University(GCUT) received good news that six paintings and calligraphy works were rewarded in the Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition of Guangdong Association for Non-Government Education. Feng Min’s paintings - Paintings in Series of Guangzhou Landmarks, Zhang Shaoping’s calligraphy work - The Long March of Mao Zedong, Yang Jian’s calligraphy work - Ode to the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China, Li Jun’s calligraphy work - Poem of Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China, Chen Fangzhen’s calligraphy work - Dragon-carving and the Literary Mind:The Origin of the Truth and Yue Yanli’s calligraphy work - SNOW--to the tune of Chin Yuan Chun were selected as excellent works.

Guided by professor Feng Min, Paintings in Series of Guangzhou Landmarks is created by Chen Suiling, Chen Zimei, Hao Juanjuan and Ma Maoqin as their graduate work, consisting of four decorative pictures at a width of 90cm and a height of 140cm.

 Calligraphy works mainly center on Poetical Works of Chairman Mao TSE-TUNG and Ode to the Centenary of the Communist Party of China, which focus on quality of lines and brush strokes and highlight on change of ink colour, embodying elegance and visual impact.Tablet inscriptions of the Northern Dynasties, cursive script, the small seal, clerical script, all these works show calligraphic foundation and art skills of teachers in our university.

GCUT has always attached importance to aesthetic education and promoted the all-round development of teachers. We have founded Calligraphy Association, organized a series of activities such as competitions of basic teaching skills of aesthetic teachers, art exhibition and calligraphy exhibition and positively encouraged teachers to participate competitions inside and outside the province. 

In order to celebrate the centenary of CPC, Guangdong Association for Non-Government Education hold the painting and calligraphy exhibition for all teachers in private universities in Guangdong province. The first exhibition received 325 works from 80 universities. After selection by experts, 129 works from 46 universities shortlisted for the next round. Excellent works will be collected and compiled in a book to conduct online exhibition.
